So much time, energy, and months lead up to the arrival of your baby. It's such an amazing time, with so many whirlwind emotions. It's hard to really think of your health & well-being after baby when all you can think about is your baby. Your health and mental state are important. Here are a few tips that helped/are helping me navigate through post-partum.
1.) take your time- the BEST thing about newborns is they love to sleep & cuddle. take the time to rest and cuddle with them. don't rush to do laundry or dinner. just be with them. they are only tiny like that for a short time.
2.) healthy- that's the word I have used to describe how I want to feel postpartum- healthy. I want to be able to play with my baby and feel good when I do so. so that means eating healthy, and working out on a healthy level.
3.) don't compare- don't compare yourself to other woman or to your pre-baby self. you won't look or feel the same after growing & birthing a baby. Some body parts will be bigger, while other's won't be as 'muscular.' if you remind yourself of the miracle that God has blessed you with-these things seem pretty small.
4.) check in with yourself- your mental health is just as important as your physical. only you will know if you aren't feeling 100% you. Be sure to really check in with yourself and make sure you're doing ok. my doctor told me that it's normal to feel overly emotional the first 3 weeks, but after that, your hormones should calm down a little. & they did, thankfully!
I know these seem like common sense, but it's so easy to get caught up in your post-partum hormones, so having these little reminders is nice.
