Love story pt. 1

I've seen a few of my favorite bloggers write out their 'love story' or 'how we met story' & I fell hard for them all. I love hearing how couples came to be. Most of the time when you start talking about your own love story, you instantly light up. A smile thinking about how silly & young & crazy about each other you were (& of course still are.) You really just can't help but laugh.

I think it's important to not only revisit your own love story, but to share it with your kids (when they are old enough to appreciate it of course.) Before kids, it was just the two of you. I think the best gift we can give our children is to continue to grow in love for each other & show that daily.

So enough babbling... let's get down to business. Here is our love story:

Will & I met twice before we met. Once was the Fall of 2008. Will was a Freshman at Purdue University & that fall he was visiting friends at Indiana University. His friends happened to be neighbors to the guy I had been dating for a couple of years. & for the obvious reasons, nothing came about from that meeting. I remember talking briefly and that was it. It's important to note that I did become great friends with the friends he was visiting, which is how him & I become a we...but let's not get ahead of ourselves...

The second time being in the Fall of 2009 when I was newly single.
Will & his roommate, Michael came down to Indiana University for the bucket game. Our mutual friends from above were hosting a party before the game. We talked a little there & found out that we would also be at the same party later that evening. What are the chances??

At the party later that evening, we spotted each other. Both of us playing it really cool. Totally not at all. We talked for a while in the kitchen with his friend Michael and a couple of my friends. Besides realizing that we were indeed attracted to each other, but trying a little too hard to play it cool, nothing came out of this except some facebook stalking from the both of us. (we later admitted down the road)

We would ever so casually ask about each other to our mutual friend, Mason.
How's he/she doing? Are they seeing anyone? etc..
but still too afraid to do anything about it.. until..
June of 2010. Will stayed at Purdue that summer, but I went home, so of course I was itching to get back to Bloomington like any sane person would. Our mutual friend, Mason was hosting a day party at his place in Bloomington. I think he probably did that on purpose? We still owe you!
We (two of my friends & I)  arrive in Bloomington. We walk up and unbeknownst to me, Will was there. At this point, we make eye contact & I had to look down at my legs to make sure that I was only imagining them shaking. We spent the whole 'party' talking & full on flirting with each other this time.  I have no idea why this time was different, but thankfully, it was different for both of us.
Of course I don't know who's to blame for this, but we forget to exchange numbers that day, so I had a mild anxiety attack on the way home at how or if we would ever talk again. Thankfully, Will is smart and asked Mason for it. So when I received a text from Will the next day I couldn't wipe the smile off my face and then proceeded to take 2 hours to reply back because I didn't want to seem like I was waiting for him to contact me. Which I was & I was just so nervous to respond. Hi, I'm five.
We talked for a few days when Will asked if I wanted to go on a date. Um, duh.
But holy cow, the nerves & butterflies were unreal. It took me a lot longer than I care to admit to put an outfit together and I show up to his apartment at Purdue on a hot June day and we matched. It looked like we planned it, which was utterly hilarious & embarrassing.
Again, with the nerves. I swore I was shaking the whole time. I some how got it together for dinner at Red Seven in Lafayette, Indiana. Will got a salad before his meal and was trying to eat it politely, but that never works at well. We end up laughing over that whole situation, which calmed both of our nerves. We quickly realized that we had a lot in common (some how got on the subject of rappers?? oooo first dates) and that we did in fact like each other past our phones.
After dinner we went back to Will's apartment where he proceeded to fall asleep on the couch.
Not even joking.
Of course, in my mind, I'm thinking the absolute worse. So I really am that boring? I awkwardly wake him up saying that I'm going to head out "because it was raining." Which it was. Of course he didn't realize that he had fallen asleep, so he awkwardly stirs and apologizes. (I should note that he is totally embarrassed I put that in there, but it's all apart of our story!!)
He does redeem himself by walking me to my car with an umbrella. We shared our first kiss (yes, even after he fell asleep) & off I drove in to the night thinking that
a.) I'm the most boring person in the world & b.) that was our last date for sure.
& Will read this and would like to add that he thought he had ruined his chances and that indeed it was our last date.
So, was it our last date?? (Of course you know the answer)
I think I will stop there with part 1, but I promise that part 2 will be the final.
& It'll be a good one too! :)
